- How do I add credit?
Launch the app on your Android phone, tap on your balance in the bottom left of the screen, then tap OK. A new window will open in your Mobile browser, from here log in and follow the on screen instructions.
You can also add credit to your account using our website.
- How do I add one of my existing Android contacts to my Localphone contact?
Tap on the menu button and select “add contact”. If your friend’s number is not saved in an international format you will be prompted to add the international dialing prefix and country code to the number before it is added to your Localphone contacts list.
- How do I make a call?
Making a call with the Localphone app is really easy, just tap on one of your contacts or dial a number directly from the app keypad. If you are in Local mode, the app will use your Android phone to call a local area number that will connect you to your contact. If you are in WiFi/3G mode, the app will use your Internet connection to make the call.
- How do I uninstall the app?
The app can be uninstalled from your Android phone at any time by the usual means. If you reinstall the app after deleting it from your phone you will be required to complete the set up process again.
- How much does the app cost?
The app is completely free to download. Charges will only apply when our calling and SMS services are used within the app.
- How much will it cost to call?
Localphone charge a very low per-minute rate to connect your call internationally. This charge will be deducted from your pre-paid credit.
As the call is routed through local numbers your mobile provider may charge you for the cost of a local call, depending on your tariff.
The current Localphone rates can be found in the app or on our website.
- The app says my country is not supported?
This version of the app will only work in countries where we can assign local access numbers. Unfortunately the app is not available in certain countries at the current time.

- What happens if I change my SIM card?
If you change your SIM card you will be requested to complete the set up process again. Access codes will then be re-generated based on your new SIM card country and you will be able to make cheap local calls.

The Localphone app brings our Local Numbers and Global SMS services to your Android.

- Where can I download the Android app?
- Why can’t I log in to the app using a different Localphone account?
The app is designed to be unique to your account. You will be asked to link the number of your Android phone to your account when you install the app. For increased security we only allow one Android phone to be linked to your account at any one time. You will only be able to log in to the app with the Localphone account your Android phone is registered with.
- Why is my app location different to what is set on the website?
When you install the app your town and country will be set according to your Localphone account settings. If the country on your Localphone account does not match the detected SIM country on your Android phone we will assign the most appropriate town based on your SIM location.
Calls made using the Android app will then be routed through local numbers in the town or city specified.
- Why can’t I change the location of my access numbers?
The area code for your local access numbers will be set and locked when you install the app for the first time. If you have a town or city set on your Localphone account in the country where your SIM is registered we’ll use that. If you don’t, we’ll assign a popular destination for you.
- Can I use the app abroad?
The best way to use our app when you’re abroad is to call using the WiFi mode. Make sure that you switch off 3G in your phones settings so you don’t pay any roaming charges. If you dial using local call mode you’ll pay your carriers roaming charges so it’s best to avoid this.
- How does the app work?
This app has two calling modes:
LOCAL calls mode - the call is made by dialing a local number that connects internationally
WiFi / 3G calls mode - the call is made using your WiFi or 3G connection
- What’s LOCAL calls?
When you’re in this mode your calls will be made using a local access number. Because the calls are connected through your network operator you can call even when you don’t have Internet connection.
- What’s WiFi / 3G calls?
When you’re in this mode your calls will be made using your Internet connection. That means you won’t have to pay your phone provider for the cost of a local call. Make sure you have a good WiFi / 3G connection before switching to this mode.
- Will the call use WiFi or 3G?
When you’re in WiFi / 3G calls mode the call will be made using your WiFi connection if available. If no WiFi connection can be found the call will be made using 3G.
